Green Beans with Rice “Loubieh b Rez”


Loubieh or green beans is a famous green healthy Lebanese dish. Beans are full of nutrients and antioxidants; can be cooked with ‘in oil’ or with meat and can be a side dish or simply eaten with a bread.

Here are the ingredients:

  • 1 Kg of Green Beans 
  • 1/2 Kg of Sirloin Steak Cubes
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Small Onion thinly chopped
  • 1 Clove Garlic crushed
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Black Pepper
  • Salt to taste

Here are the steps:

  • Remove the ends of the beans and cut each bean into three pieces. 
  • Cook the Sirloin steak cubes in oil and add to them the onion and the garlic. 
  • Add the pole green beans with all spices, black pepper and salt.
  • Cook them all together until the meat and the beans become tender.
  • You need to add hot water to help the meat and the beans to cook slowly and better.
  • Serve with rice and yogurt or labneh “a Lebanese yogurt version cooked with rice”.
